The Ministry of Health & Wellness (MoHW) has officially commissioned 10 new ambulances for the Family Islands, with an additional five vehicles expected to arrive soon. These state-of-the-art ambulances are equipped with the latest medical technology and meet global safety standards, ensuring that residents of the Family Islands have access to the highest quality emergency medical services.
The $1.4 million procurement, financed through an Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) loan, was made possible through the partnership with Spain-based manufacturer #Technove. The new ambulances are part of the Ministry’s ongoing health system strengthening program, aimed at improving healthcare delivery across the Bahamas.
The Honourable Philip Davis, Prime Minister of The Bahamas, and the Honourable Dr. Michael R. Darville, Minister of Health & Wellness, both attended the inspection of the vehicles.
This initiative is a significant step forward in modernizing healthcare services in the Bahamas and ensuring that all communities, including those in the Family Islands, have access to timely and efficient emergency care.
