The School Health Services of the Department of Public Health, Ministry of Health & Wellness, recently held their annual orientation for the 2024-2025 academic year under the theme: “Partners for Healthy Students.” The event took place from August 19th to 23rd, 2024 at the Ministry of Health & Wellness Headquarters.
This critical program brought together School Health Services nurses from across The Bahamas to prepare for another year of promoting and protecting the health of students. The orientation focused on enhancing collaboration, equipping nurses with updated tools and knowledge, and emphasizing the pivotal role they play in fostering student well-being.
The Honourable Dr. Michael Darville, Minister of Health & Wellness, delivered remarks to the attendees, highlighting the Ministry’s ongoing dedication to student health and the invaluable contributions of the nurses who serve in schools nationwide. He commended their commitment to addressing the diverse health needs of students, which are integral to fostering a thriving educational environment.
The week-long orientation also featured presentations from various experts, providing insights into public health initiatives, child wellness programs, and strategies to strengthen partnerships with schools and communities.
